Aden had slept so soundly in Adam's arm almost throughout the journey. It was a beautiful sight thought Zaharah to herself. She knew Adam's love for that child is genuine eventhough he was uncertain about the child's father. The fear of knowing the truth about the child's real father it seems like an emotional torture for the both of them especially for Adam. Adam caught Zaharah's eye staring at him. Zaharah smile and lay her head on his arm as the cab drove smoothly along the quiet road. It was almost midnight when they had reach their destination. Zaharah took turns carrying Aden in her arms who begins to half awake while Adam brings out their luggage from the bonnet of the cab. Zaharah begins to prepare some milk for Aden to drink before pat him back to sleep as Adam makes some sandwiches for their midnight supper. They decide to rest at the verandah admiring the vast hiily view which was spread across them.
"I'm sure going to miss this place once we both move out to our parents home." said Adam while holding Zaharah in his arms. He stare at the view with full of thoughts and emotion surrounding in his mind. Zaharah looks at Adam and notice the solemnised on his face and this sets some worridness in her heart. "I don't know if I'm able to be here and see all this again." continue Adam. Upon hearing those words, Zaharah was ultimately shocked and hold on to Adam closer in her arms. "Please don't said that. You promised me that you won't leave me. That you will always stay by my side." cried Zaharah as she can't believe what she just heard. How could Adam had that kind of thinking out of sudden and why? Adam look straight into Zaharah's doe eyes. He brings his face closer to hers and then he begins to kiss her.
"Please Adam don't said that again." utter Zaharah as he held her arms around his neck. The breeze comes and goes and it was such a beautiful feeling. Then they stood up and begins to dance following the sound of the soft gushing wind.
Zaharah wakes up and look at the clock on the side table. It was almost seven and she knew she needs to be up early as she got lot's of things to do. Adam was still asleep. Zaharah carress his hair and face and then those words which Adam had spoken to her last night came back into her mind. Zaharah becomes anxious about this. However Zaharah felt that may be Adam was still grieving about his father's death and that is why he utters all those words. She got dress and walks out of the bed towards the kitchen as she begins to prepare some breakfast. Adam begins to stir in his bed and realised that he was alone. He sat on the bed and put on his shirt. And then he walks cautiously towards Aden who was still asleep. He carress his dark brown hair and touch his face. Adam was unsure about his desicion on bringing Aden for the DNA test. He fears of losing Aden but at the same time he felt that it was the best for all of them.
"Breakfast ready." said Zaharah softly as she does not want to wakes Aden up so early in the morning as he needs his sleeps due to the long trip. Adam smile and nodded as he walks out from the room and walks towards the kitchen. They knew they both have a lot of stuffs to settle since they will only be there for only two days. After breakfast and after Zaharah had shower and feed Aden, they sent him over to Ameena's home. Then they set their journey towards their rented shop. Adam had decides to temporary close up his shops and stop supplying incoming orders. Zaharah begins busying herself making and receiving phonecalls. Adam had told Zaharah to take a break but she refused and insisted on finishing her task as many as she sould. It was almost half past six in the evening when everything begins to settle down. The shop owner came over to their shop and Adam handed him over the keys."You' re always welcome back Adam. Anytime." said Kareem the shop owner. Adam and Zaharah felt grateful with Kareems great help and kind consideration.
The night sky begins to sets in when they both had arrive home. Ameena had offered to let Aden sleep over her place cause she knew Adam and Zaharah must be feeling very exhausted due to the long journey the previous night and now settling their business. They were thankful for Ameena's kind gesture as they both really need that right now however they plan to fetch Aden in the morning as they had book an appointment for his medical checkup at the nearby clinic. Back at their home, Adam begins tidying up his painting room, clearing out his old used oil paints and paint brushes while Zaharah was busy preparing dinner. She decides to cook some vegetable soups adding in few pieces of chicken bits to add in the flavor. As she was beggining to set the table for dinner suddenly she felt faint and drop the bowl on the floor sending bits of clay pieces everywhere. Adam was shock and rush towards the kitchen. He saw the smashed bowl on the floor and then he saw Zaharah stand againts the kitchen cabinet holding her head.
"Zaharah..are you okay." cried Adam in alarm.
"I feel faint so sudden." replied Zaharah still holding on to her forehead.
"Come..you need to rest. Let me finish this up for you." said Adam as he brings Zaharah to bed for rest. Zaharah sat on the bed and thankfully the fainting spell had subdue. Adam came in with the bowl of soup in his hands. "Maybe you are hungry. Come let me feed you." said Adam offering the spoonful of soup towards Zaharah's lips.
"Come on Adam..I'll be fine." exclaimed Zaharah smiling towards Adam and took the bowl in her hands and begins sipping the warm soup. "How about you? Are'nt you hungry?" asked Zaharah. Adam grinned and nodded. "After Aden's checkup, I want you to see the doctor too." said Adam looking concerned towards Zaharah. And before Zaharah could protest, Adam stare at her firmly. "Okay!Okay! Since you insisted." replied Zaharah as she pulls the blanket over her and fall fast asleep.
The next morning at the clinic, it was pretty crowded with patients. And most of them were couples with children. When it was Aden's turn to see the doctor, Adam almost freak out and look stunned. "Can you relax abit...you making me and Aden nervous" whispered Zaharah as they both enters the doctor's examination room. "So sorry cause I'm not used to all this." stammered Adam breathing heavily as he was very nervous. Zaharah knew it was due to the DNA test which Aden needs to go through. "I'm with you." cried Zaharah reassurance Adam. "Great!" replied Adam giving that 'darlie' grin again much to Zaharah's amusement. The doctor begins his examination on Aden, checking him from the head till the toes. And also Aden's co-ordination movement..his progress in speech and listening skill. Aden was smart kid and he seems to response very well towards the doctors examination. He chuckles as he begins to call mummy and daddy when the doctor asked him to relate who that person as the doctor points his fingers towards Adam and Zaharah. Aden can speak quite number of words now. He knows when's he hungry and when he needs his bottles. The doctor was pleased with Aden's progress.
"He's one healthy champ." said the doctor at last. Adam and Zaharah felt relieved with this and Adam hold Aden in his arms. And then the doctor continues,"And both of you requested this child to be tested for his DNA?" Adam and Zaharah nodded. "This DNA test can be quite tedious and it tooks couple of months for the result to be out. And not only that Mr Adam you do need to go for this test too. So are you still interested going through with this ." Adam remains silence for a moment while looking at Aden and then he nodded. "We are both ready." The doctor begins drawing out some blood from both of them. Aden whimpers when the thick needle was poke into his vein as the doctor begins drawing out the blood. It pains Adam and Zaharah to see Aden need to go through these and Adam wish he had not agrees to go ahead with the test. However Aden stop crying after the needle was out from his vein and the plaster was paste onto the hand which was poke. "Alright that settles...we will sent in the report to you as soon it was out at this home address." said the doctor. Adam check it was their present home address and he nodded. "Okay,upon your husband request, I need to check on you too Mrs Adam." continue the doctor as he smile at her. "Your husband had relate to me earlier that you had a fainting spell..always hungry and angry." said the doctor smilling gleefully.
"What? Always hungry and angry..no I'm not" retorted Zaharah looking irritated towards Adam. "See what I mean doctor." cried Adam and smile meekly towards Zaharah. The doctor hands her a speciment bottle. "I need to do some urine test..so please stay calm and.." even before the doctor could finish his sentence, Zaharah took the bottle. "You going to get a mouthful from me Adam." cried Zaharah as she walk towards the restroom. "It's hormone thing so try to understand woman." said the doctor. Adam nodded and smile to himself. Yah he knew Zaharah very well now. Strong-will..full of dreams and hopes...lots of love and joy...but at times can be quite tempermental. Zaharah came back from the restroom with the bottle and handed it over to the doctor for the test."That was fast." said Adam as Zaharah sat beside him. Zaharah look at Adam's smiling face and pinch his arm. "Ouch that hurts." cried Adam laughing gleefully.
"Okay the result is out...congrats cause in nine months time there's an additonal member in your family. Mrs Adam you're pregnant." exclaimed the doctor. Zaharah could not believe what she's hearing and tears of joy begins to well in her eyes. She's pregnant..! Adam came closer towards Zaharah and kiss her cheeks. A new responsiblity ....a new hope. Thought Adam to himself. Zaharah was prescribed with lots of vitamins and supplement and her next checkup is due in three months time.
Back at home Adam usher Zaharah to take her vitamins and then rest in bed as he does not want Zaharah to tire herself again. Aden was busy by himself playing with the paint brush and begins painting on the tiny canvas which Adam had specially made just for him. Adam then begins packing their belongings in their luggage for their trip to his parent's home the next day. After he had done he prepares the lunch and then he feeds Aden and pat him to sleep. Adam look at Zaharah and kiss her cheeks as she was still sleeping away. As everyone was having their afternoon nap, Adam walks into his working room and looks at all his paintings....he stares at them especially the many potraits of Zaharah which he had painted earlier. After locking the door he walks out towards the verandah. It was nice warm afternoon with breeze coming in and goes sweeping on his face. He close his eyes and breath in the air. Opening back his eyes and suddenly he thought he saw the tiny yellow bird flying around the sky above. He look at it with wonder and he knew....eventhough his father is gone but his spirit is still within them and he's going to live on with that spirit in his heart.
