A month has passes on. I’m healing but I’m left with tormenting scars deep within my soul. To recoup back the full spirited courage was impossible. What spirit am I left with? I hated myself for becoming like this. Despite putting up the upfront shield of acceptance and calmness when I’m in the crowd, but the pang of sorrow and guilt clamped me when I’m alone.Sitting by the balcony recalling back the togetherness when I’m with Habil. The laughter, the giggles, the tears …the love we had made. I clenched my fist close to my chest, as tears begins to well in my eyes.
“You came back..” I said.
You held out your hand awaiting mine to held on to yours. As you took my hand you bring me towards your work desk. And then you just stood there with your back facing me. I held you closed to me, feeling the warmth of your presence. You turn and gave me a wondrous smile and then you place your hands upon our wedding photo which you had place on the desk. The urgency message was clearly seen on your face.
“Habil.” I said as I woke up in a stunned note. I must have fallen asleep on the sofa which was place by the balcony. Rubbing my eyes as I felt kind of groggy but my heart bores the listless notion. “What are you trying to tell me?” I mutters as I clench my temple with both my hands. The throbbing pain upon my head seems to be getting more frequent now. Blame myself for opting away from those medications which Habil used to prescribe me with. I felt it’s no longer an obligation task for me now. For I knew taking those medications will only brushed away my memories of him. I can’t let that happen, and I won’t let it happen.
I had my eyes fixed intensely towards my wedding photo and carefully I removed the frame. To my surprise, there was a tiny pocket book which was precision place in between the frame and the photo. I sat on the bed taking the book along.
I held it close to my heart, as my tears begin to well. In a few moment, I turn to the first page.
“Aaron my dad had requested me to protect her Reem Sumaiyah her name and fate definitely was on our side. As she was looking for a private nurse to look after Aaron, Aaron prompted me to take that part.
“I knew what Ezra up to.. despite he wasn’t aware I’m his brother, but a duty is a duty. Sumaiyah is under my care and protection, punching him on his nose well, I truly believe he deserve more punches than that..hmm” I smile with amusement upon reading that.
“He called me Sumaiyah. No one calls me that before.” I thoughts to myself with a grin.
“She is more beautiful in person. Her eyes which shows so much sadness is somehow or rather mesmerising to my soul. But again, protecting her is my task. I need to put aside all those inclinations of feelings and emotions.”
“You sound just like a true soldier.” I chuckled. “You can just tell me you in love with me silly.”
I flipped the last writing of him and something had definitely caught my attention.
“I’ve finally found the antidote, but only Ezra know the formula and we swore and place an oath, no one to have it. Ezra took the antidote and miraculously he seems to heal so much better than we had ever expected.”
“I swear I didn’t meant to hurt Sumaiyah. Something had taken control of my body and my soul. I never expected myself to be such a barbaric beastly being. Her cries and pleading just breaking me apart right until now. I know, I was infused with some kind of drug..somebody is lurking to hurt me. But I just do not know who..”
I place the book on the bed as I tried to grasp some courage back into my guts.
“Someone had call and give me a death treat. It was Orion. He demand for the formula. In a quick trance, I refused to give in for I knew, their dark family secret of wanting to used this formula for the benefits and greed to themselves. According to Aaron, they once had discretely reverse certain formula and concoction not to make the sick to be better but to get worst, therefore that could scam more money from those victims.”
“The worst straw that I can take in, when Orion has threatened to hurt my family. Therefore in such a quick decision, I proceeded with my engagement with Sumaiyah, despite her spiteful protest. And for Ezra, I’m left with no other choice but to send him far away from here just for a time being.”
“I knew my days are numbered now….Sumaiyah as I believe you will uphold our family integrity therefore here’s the secret potion which you truly deserve to uphold and used them in good will. Once you knew, go to Ezra and tell him..be the fragrance despite being crushed.”
As I flipped open the next page, true enough the concoction was neatly and carefully written by Habil. The simplest form of hibiscus was indeed to complete in harvesting the previous potion much to my amazement. In a quick notion, I quickly fixed and place back the tiny pocket book inside the photo frame.
“Be the fragrance despite being crushed.” I said.
Ezra cautiously place the remaining stalks of roses upon his work table with his eyes gaze upon me.
He nodded earnestly with a blissful smile of grace and relief.
